Scanning

MRI scans:

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scan or MRI Scan can image the anatomy of organs in our body, pinpoint the areas of disease location and spread, and find the aggressiveness of tumours, infections, etc.

Proven to be completely safe, the scan causes no radiation.

Why should you take an MRI Scan?

It detects and diagnoses health problems at an early stage
Provides high-resolution images that can help your doctor make an accurate diagnosis.
Can be used to identify tumours, cysts, and other abnormalities in any area of the body.
Most accurate diagnostic tool available for diagnosing and treating diseases of the brain, spine, and musculoskeletal system.

MRI Scan Procedure:
Fasting is not needed
Belt, Jewellery, Watch, and Wallet may need to be removed during the study. A secure safe with a lock and key will be allotted to you for keeping your things safely.
You may be given earplugs or headphones to block out the loud noise from the machine.
Bringing an attendee with you is a must for the contrast study. He/she will be allowed to be you within the scanning room.
A dressing change is needed for an MRI study. Please bring a Dhoti or Nightdress without metal clips or zip. Routine tablets (diabetes, hypertension tablets, etc) taken by you can be taken on the day of scanning. Please bring your previous scan and blood test reports/discharge summaries.
Things to consider before taking an MRI Scan:
Though it is considered a very safe procedure, there are some precautions you should take before having an MRI scan. The whole procedure usually takes 30-60 MINUTES.
Most people tolerate the scan well, but if you’re claustrophobic or have anxiety, you may want to ask your doctor about medications that can help you relax during the exam.

Wear loose and comfortable clothes If you have any metal implants in your body, please inform your doctor. Eat light food before the scan. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, tell your doctor before you have an MRI scan.

CT SCANS:

Computed Tomography Scan (or) CT Scan can image the anatomy of organs in our body, pinpoint the areas of disease location and spread, and find the aggressiveness of tumours, and infections.

A CT scan machine emits X-rays from various angles around our body and by using reconstructive algorithms, produces a 3D reconstruction of the bones and organs within our body.

Why should you take an CT Scan?

CT Scans are an important tool that can be used to diagnose a variety of conditions.
Can be used to detect both cancerous and noncancerous tumours. The scan uses x-rays to create a detailed image of the body, and it can often provide more information than an x-ray alone.
CT Scans can be used to diagnose problems with the bones, organs, and soft tissues, and they can sometimes be used to detect cancer.
If your doctor suspects that you have a problem that could be identified with a CT scan, it is important to schedule an appointment with the nearest Aarthi Scans CT scan centre as soon as possible.

CT Scan procedure:

Though it is generally safe and has few side effects, there are a few things to consider before undertaking a CT scan. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should avoid CT scans because the radiation may harm the developing foetus or infant. Additionally, people with kidney problems may be at risk for complications from the contrast dye used in CT scans. Before undertaking a CT Scan, be sure to talk to your doctor about any risks or concerns you may have.

Things to consider before undertaking a CT scan
Before undertaking a CT scan, ask your doctor any questions you have about the procedure and what it involves. Tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to contrast dye or if you have any other allergies.

You will be asked to remove any jewellery or metal objects prior to the scan. You may also be asked to remove clothing and wear a gown during the procedure. You will be asked to lie still on a table while the CT scanner takes images of the area being studied. The scanner is large and circular and moves around you as it takes pictures. During the scan, you may hear buzzing or clicking noises as well as see flashes of light. The technologist performing the scan will be able to see and hear you at all times during the procedure via an intercom system in the scan room.

Once the scan is complete, you will be able to get off the table and dress. In some cases, a contrast dye may be used during your CT scan. Contrast dye is injected into your vein through an intravenous (IV) line in your arm before the CT scanning begins. The contrast helps highlight certain areas inside your body and makes them easier to read on the CT images. If contrast dye is used, you may feel flushed or warm during or after its injection; this feeling should quickly go away.

Ultra scans:

An Ultrasound scan (or) USG can image the anatomy and pathology of organs in our abdomen, and neck. Ultrasound is also used to image for anomalies during pregnancy and to monitor the growth of the baby. Colour doppler scans are used to image the flow within arteries and veins in our body.

Ultrasound Scan Procedure:

Ultrasound is a medical procedure that uses sound waves to create images of the inside of the body. It is used in the assessment of a variety of conditions, including pregnancy, heart disease, and organ damage. The ultrasound probe is placed on the skin, and the sound waves bounce off the structures inside the body. The image is then displayed on a monitor, providing information about the size, shape, and location of the structures. Ultrasound is a safe and painless procedure that can be used to diagnose a variety of conditions.

Ultrasound scans are used to help diagnose a variety of conditions, including:
  • Heart problems
  • Kidney stones
  • Gall stones
  • Liver problems
  • Pancreatitis
  • Appendicitis
  • Testicular problems
Things to consider before taking an Ultrasound Scan:

Before the scan, you will likely be asked to drink plenty of water so that your bladder is full. This is because a full bladder helps to produce clearer images. You may also be asked to avoid eating or drinking for a few hours before the ultrasound so that your stomach and intestines are empty. This is because ultrasound images can be obscured by gas or stool in the intestines. During the ultrasound, you will lie on a bed and a gel will be applied to your skin. A small device called a transducer will be moved over your body, sending out sound waves that create pictures on a screen. The whole process usually takes less than 30 minutes. There is no radiation involved in ultrasound, so it’s generally considered safe for both adults and children.
